This is my turn to hop into #bloggarba. Thank you Papri Ganguly from throughmypinkwindow.com for the introduction.
After celebrating 10 days of Ganesh Festival, the festive season starts in Hindu Religion 🕉 from Navratri which ends to Dusshera & ultimately Diwali. Each part of India celebrates Navratri with great excitement & enthusiasm by their own special ways.
In the northern and western states, the festival is synonymous with “Rama Lila” and Dusshera that celebrates the battle and victory of god Rama over the demon king Ravana. In southern states, the victory of different goddesses, of Rama or Saraswati is celebrated. (Inputs from Google)
We 16 bloggers are back again with #festiveblogging #bloggarba #blogtrain with interesting write-ups for all you readers 🙂
Navratri meaning “NINE NIGHTS”, this is the days when Goddess Durga (Hindu Deity) is been worshipped. Durga is said to be the goddess with many forms like energy, anger, power, compassion, beauty, fear. During these 9 days Maa Durga had a battle with demon Mahishasura. He was a combination of both an Asura (superhuman demigods or demons with good or bad qualities) and a Mahisha (“water buffalo”) with a trident. The legend of Mahishasura is important in Hindu mythology since the Goddess Durga was incarnated in order to slay him.
Each story had one thing in common the victory of good over evil.
This year Navratri begins on September 21 and ends on September 29, and the 10th day is celebrated as Dusshera.
VijayaDashmi, the final day also known as Dusshera either the Durga Idol is immersed in water in case of Durga Puja or there is a setup where people get together to burn effigies of Demon King Ravana.
Different Avatars of the Devi/Maa Durga is been worshipped each day hence she is also known as “NAVADURGA” 🕉.
