Accepting flaws is good, but working on them is the best possible thing. Now, many of them won’t agree with this, but I firmly do. One piece of advice that I keep ignoring is to try to maintain my calm. Being short-tempered has its own side effects. However, I’ve discovered my own ways to tackle it. Let me explain how I manage things when I’m pissed, or, for instance, calm my overstimulated mind.
When I know in advance, I will lose my calm – Try to take a pause, breathe and then react. The fraction of a second helps me calm my nerves.
When things go haywire or out of control – Close my eyes, think, or just think about my favourite God and chant some mantras or verses to calm my mind.
When I have already acted on it – This is my number trait to be specific, and I’m usually the worst when angry, but I don’t harm anyone as such. It is just my blunt language that makes it worse. But the best part is I cool down in a second or even a millisecond. But tab tak sab bol deti hu 🙂 During such times, I instantly apologise, even hug that person, or say sorry.
I have heard many things about staying calm, and I have been slowly improving myself as a better person. I feel super grateful that my partner is the one who usually helps me calm down and asks me to think twice before reacting. I also listen to music or try to meditate during such times, and even journal or do thought dumping.
What is that one piece of advice you often receive and have still not worked upon?
