I used to think the double cleansing method was too complicated. I read articles and watched videos, but I never tried it until Sonali encouraged me. Her Instagram reviews convinced me to give it a shot, and now I can honestly say my oily, sensitive skin loves this routine.
I began the double cleansing method with just one product, but soon added another. A lot of us think a regular face wash is enough to remove dirt and pollution, but my oily, sensitive skin needed something gentler. After some trial and error, I found a double cleansing method that keeps my skin clean, calm, and glowing.

For Oily Skin Girlies
Finding the right product for oily skin is a task. Today, brands have considered every concern and have nailed some amazing formulations. If you’ve ever felt like your face starts glowing (but not in the good way) by 11 a.m., I feel you. Oily skin can be tricky; you cleanse too much, it gets stripped and produces more oil; you skip cleansing, and say hello to clogged pores. Some other things I truly rely on to avoid looking like an oily samosa on occasion are the Wearified IRL Paris Filter Airbrush Powder and, for instance, the new setter & blotter compact.
Step 1: Oil-Based Cleanse (DHC or Round Lab)
I have had my share of trials and errors with the double cleansing method, but I’ve finally nailed it. I alternate between these two oils, but I’m inclined towards the new one gifted to me by Sonali. Check her latest review on the cleansing oil.
- DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is rich and olive-based, melting away everything from waterproof mascara to sunscreen in seconds. I like how it rinses off cleanly with warm water and doesn’t leave any residue. It can sting a little, though.
- Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Oil feels feather-soft on lighter days. It has deep-sea water and leaves my skin feeling supple and hydrated, without any tightness or oiliness.
How I use it:
- Take 2–3 pumps on dry palms.
- Massage gently for about 60 seconds (especially around the nose and chin).
- Add a few drops of warm water to emulsify.
- Rinse thoroughly.
- Be gentle, avoid intense rubbing on the face.
This first cleanse removes SPF, makeup, sebum, and pollution particles, getting your skin ready for a deeper clean.
DHC – Ingredients List
Olea Europaea (olive) Fruit Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, Pentylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopherol, Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil.
Dokdo Cleansing Oil – Ingredients List
Ethylhexyl Stearate, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, Diisostearyl Malate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Purified Water, Evening Primrose Oil, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Avocado Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Canola Oil, Macadamia Oil, Sea Water, Butylene Glycol, Allantoin, Panthenol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Phosphatidylcholine, Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramide NP, Glycine, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Glutamic Acid, Serine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Lysine, Alanine, Arginine, Threonine, Proline, Bergamot Oil, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Oil, Tocopherol, Limonene, Linalool
Step 2: Water-Based Cleanse (Wishcare Face Wash)
For the next step, I follow up with Wishcare Face Wash, which helps remove any remaining residue and gently cleanses my pores. It has a mild, non-stripping formula that works beautifully after an oil cleanse.
How I use it:
- Apply to damp skin and massage for 30–40 seconds.
- Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.
This step ensures the pores are truly clean—not just free of makeup—and helps keep your skin barrier healthy.
Step 3: Weekly Detox (Derma Co Clay Mask)
Twice a week, I add The Derma Co Clay Mask to detoxify and deep clean my pores. After cleansing, I apply an even layer, let it sit for about 10 minutes, and rinse it off before my moisturiser. According to Fiddys Method, the clay mask application is the second step.
This helps control oil, reduces congestion, and keeps my skin smooth, which is especially helpful if you live in a humid or polluted area.
Comparison
The famous Fiddy’s method is the best way to do double cleansing and remove all the gunk from the clogged pores. If you really want to include a good, detailed skincare routine, you must follow it. Avoid AHA and BHA in the same routine. Use BHA as it is oil-soluble.
The DHC cleansing oil works on the principle of like attracts like. It is a nice, yellow-coloured, 100% organic olive oil that absorbs quickly. Suitable for all skin types. I found it a little greasy and thicker than the Dokdo one. The Japanese cleanser removes makeup, sunscreen, and other impurities from the skin. Emulsifies and cleanses the face well without making it dry.
For eye makeup removal, it works well, but I found it slightly heavy to use on the eyes because olive oil is one of the main ingredients. I’ve kept this at my Pune house. The olive oil used is from an organic farm in Spain; it is refined and purified in their labs in Japan (website source). There is a slight oil fragrance, which is normal since no other artificial fragrances are added. Check this reel to see how it melts the makeup and adds instant glow to my tired face.
Now, let’s discuss the Dokdo variant. I love the cleansing oil’s thin consistency. It is fragrance-free. Deep-sea water from the Ulleungdo Islands is used in the Dokdo range. It is known for being exceptionally clean and rich in minerals, such as magnesium and calcium, which are beneficial for the skin.
Both oils help to remove makeup, sunscreen, dirt and grime effortlessly, but I’m inclined towards the Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Oil.
Conclusion
I love both the cleansing oils. FYI – I have oily, sensitive skin, and none of the cleansing oils broke my skin. However, if I had to recommend someone, I would go with the Dokdo variant. If you’re new to cleansing oils, please check the ingredient list thoroughly, especially if you have acne-prone or sensitive skin. The DHC one could be the best option if you’re looking for an affordable cleansing oil; try the 30ml travel-sized variant.
I love how Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Oil helped me reduce the whiteheads on my nose. This isn’t magical, and it does take time as per your skincare regimen. Be patient if you try any new skincare and don’t expect any instant results.
Let me know if you have tried any of the above cleansing oils. Also, are you a fan of the double cleansing method, or do you think using a face wash alone is enough?
