I’ve had a love-hate relationship with shampoo bars. The monsoons in coastal areas worsen them. I didn’t want to write separate reviews, so I compiled all the Earth Rhythm shampoo bars. For reference, I have a wavy, oily scalp with normal/dry ends.

I have been using the Earth Rhythm Shampoo Bars for a few years. They have accompanied me to my home in Pune and here in the coastal, humid Sindhudurg. I’ve used them almost every season.

Shikakai N Reetha Shampoo Bar

Ingredients – Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Decyl Glucoside, Behenamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Behenyl Alcohol, Lactic Acid, Cetyl Alcohol, Polyquaternium 7, Polyquaternium 10, Coconut Alkanes, Coco Caprylate/Caprate, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Cetrimonium Chloride, Acacia Concinna Fruit Extract (Shikakai), Emblica Officinalis Fruit (Amla) Extract, Sapindus Mukurossi (Reetha) Fruit Extract, Murraya Koenigii (Curry Leaf) Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Triethylene Glycol, Phthalate Free Fragrance (IFRA Certified).

PH Value – 5.5-6

Claims – Cleanses Scalp + Prevents Premature Greying

My experience – This was the first shampoo bar I tried from this brand. I had high expectations after seeing the list of ingredients. I’ve previously used shikakai and reetha powders individually, as well as in hair masks. The fragrance is quite okay yet bearable and earthy due to the ingredients. It cleansed my hair, but it did make it dry and frizzy. It felt like a nightmare. Follow up with a nice hydrating conditioner on the ends, and this will do the job. Even a nice smoothing serum after washing with the shampoo bar will make a difference. I did not repurchase this one as I wanted to try their other variants.

Murumuru Butter Shampoo Bar

Ingredients – Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Decyl Glucoside, Dicocoylethyl hydroxyethylmonium methosulfate, Behenamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Behenyl Alcohol, Lactic Acid, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Polyquaternium-10, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Astrocaryum Murumuru Seed Butter, Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol, Triethylene glycol Phthalate-Free Fragrance (IFRA Certified).

PH Value – 5.5 – 6

Claims – Tames Frizz & Detangles Curls in 1st Wash

My experience – I ordered this one for my daughter when she turned 3.5 years old. A well-known mom influencer who does CGM recommended this for wavy/curly hair. I took some time and finally placed the order. The shampoo bar lathers well and has a nice slip. It detangles the hair in the first wash itself, standing by its claim. I love the way the shampoo bar effortlessly glides on both oily and dry hair. My hair ends are a little dry or normal (depending on the humidity). I usually need a nice hydrating conditioner. This is the most used shampoo bar at our place. I use it for myself, my husband (not regular :P), and my little one.

Scalp Exfoliation Shampoo Bar

Ingredients – Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Decyl Glucoside, Behenamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Behenyl Alcohol, Lactic Acid, Cetyl Alcohol, Polyquaternium 7, Polyquaternium 10, Coconut Alkanes, Coco Caprylate/Caprate, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Cetrimonium Chloride, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Lactobacillus/Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Ferment Extract, Salicylic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Triethylene Glycol, Phthalate Free Fragrance (IFRA Certified)

PH Value – 5.5-6

Claims – Exfoliates Dandruff + Controls Sebum Production

My experience – The shampoo is effective against dandruff. Within the first use, it soothes my itchy scalp. It controls the sebum production. I would recommend this if you have an oily or itchy scalp. I’m not sure if it works for severe dandruff. I shuffle between this and the murmuru variant for regular haircare sessions. I love Salicylic Acid products for my face and hair 🙂

No matter how many shampoos I tried, I keep getting the 2 of them constantly. I love how my hair feels post-air-drying. At times, the humidity in the weather makes them oily, but the scalp remains oil-free for 24hours or more. I wash my hair twice a week, so I manage to use this product once/twice a week, or about once every 15 days, depending on my hair’s health.

100% Virgin Coconut Oil Shampoo Bar

Ingredients – Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Decyl Glucoside, Diacyloylethyl Hydroxyethylmonium Methosulfate, Behenamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Behenyl Alcohol, Lactic Acid, Cetyl Alcohol, Polyquaternium 10, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Phenoxyethanol, Triethylene Glycol, Phthalate Free Fragrance (IFRA Certified)

PH Value – 5.5 – 6

Claims – Restores Shine + Nourishes + Stimulates Growth

My experience – Omg, the fragrance of the shampoo is just out of this world. It has a pleasant coconut pastry aroma that will make you fall in love. However, it didn’t work on my hair and made it even oilier. We know how coconut oil can worsen oily scalp and skin, too. After the first wash, my hair felt weighed down due to the oiliness. It did make the scalp itch. Perfect for daily use for people with dry, wavy, or frizzy hair.

I asked my husband to use it. He has dry hair, so this was a perfect match for his hair type. He did follow up with the conditioner. However, this also triggered his flaky dandruff again. He had to start using the medicated keto shampoo to treat it again. I feel this would suit if you have no dandruff and dry, wavy, or frizzy hair. Please note – It is not for oily hair but I tried using it for myself.

Solid Conditioner Bar – The bar stays true to its name and feels like strong stone. It won’t budge at all. The conditioner bar has remained the same since the day I opened it from the box. I didn’t like this, as I felt it didn’t serve any purpose in my hair care routine. It was lying in my soap space for a very long time. All other soaps were soggy, but this stood firm even during monsoons. The ingredients in the bar focus on deep conditioning, balancing scalp pH, and preventing dryness. I threw away this one as nobody bothered to use it for months.

Final Review – I hope this detailed review of each Earth Rhythm shampoo bar helps you make an informed purchase decision. Every shampoo bar is travel-friendly and has no hassle to spill like conventional shampoo bottles. All the Earth Rhythm Shampoo bars easily turn soggy at my place.

Please dry them and don’t keep them in the tin. The tin is for travel purposes only. During the summer, I try to keep them outside on my balcony to dry them, and then keep them in the bathroom. However, monsoons in coastal areas make the Earth Rhythm shampoo bars worse.

I’m not sure if any of my readers have used these bars, but I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any Earth Rhythm shampoo bars before. FYI – I’m currently trying a new shampoo for hair fall, will review it later as it is too early to speak about that one.
