I love slow and meaningful family shows. I can easily relate to and visualise what’s on screen. I even love to binge-watch seasonal shows. I was a little sceptical of what exactly the show would offer me – I did not want to watch war, but something in the title “Little House on the Prairie” made me watch this, and later I realised it was based on a book. I have a few reasons why you should watch this show on Netflix. Keep reading to learn more.

Slow kind of storytelling

There is absolutely no rush or shocking twist. Every episode has that essence of family, farm, and patience that leads to a normal, happy life. It felt like reliving those moments. The costumes, location, and the characters seem relatable and honest.

It makes mundane life feel like enough

The episodes mostly showcase the Ingalls performing everyday chores, singing, having dinner, and solving problems with immense hope. We have somehow forgotten to live life with our family, and that is what this show teaches us in every episode. Nothing beats a warm, home-cooked meal with the family.

Pa Ingalls will guide you in the best way

There’s something about Pa’s quiet strength. He does all the hard work with honesty and without complaint. The way he looks at his daughters and shows them the bright side of life despite all the odds. The best part is he never gives up despite failure and mistakes. He always keeps loving, showing up, and most importantly being there for the family.

It teaches resilience without ever saying the word

Fires, sickness, or loss this family goes through it all, and not once does the show turn dramatised. They just get up and keep living every single day. Today’s struggle is shown for sympathy, but they survive it all without expecting anything from anyone. I love how mature the girls are, even for their age.

The sisters will remind you of your own

Mary and Laura fight as sisters do, but they still defend each other. If you have a sister or a friend who feels like one, you will definitely relate to this character. They portray the characters so well, you’ll feel like you’re watching them in your everyday routine.

It’s the kind of show you can watch with your family

There’s no need to skip past; you won’t awkwardly fast-forward any scene when your mother-in-law walks in. It’s honest storytelling that every generation in the house can sit and enjoy. In an era where family television time has quietly disappeared, this show literally gives that back to you.

It leaves you a little more grateful

You’ll finish an episode and look at your own kitchen and house. Things we already have, like tap water, food to eat every day, and a roof that doesn’t leak, make you feel a wave of gratitude. That’s rare for a series to give you.

The heart of it

Little House on the Prairie isn’t about simple times. It was never really about nostalgia. Nothing about the Ingalls family’s life was simple. It just looked that way because they never let the hard days show up.

And maybe that’s enough reason to watch this series tonight.
