The pandemic situation and overall conditions have affected the travel industry. In my case, travel was almost impossible. I conceived just at the start of February, and in March it was all about the coronavirus. I had planned to give birth to our baby in Pune, but things weren’t going well overall, so staying in Sindhudurg was the safest choice. I was ecstatic when we heard the news about Sindhudurg Airport. My daughter missed a lot in and around Pune with all of my maternal family. We had already made up our minds about our Pune trip. However, we were a little disappointed because, at that stage, there would be only one flight to Mumbai.

Be ready for the unexpected! It is a small airport yet spacious and I love the natural lighting inside the airport. The ground staff and cabin crew have great hospitality. The restroom is well-maintained too.
Overall, it was a good experience. We have traveled via a flight in the past. This was our daughter’s first flight journey. She thoroughly enjoyed it till the end. Sindhudurg Airport is the best option for Mumbaikars to travel for Ganesh Chaturthi Season or any occasion.
Why travel or book a flight to Sindhudurg Airport?
Everyone talks about Malvan on their blogs, in their stories, and in their YouTube videos. I’ve seen very few of them talking about Sindhudurg or the clean beaches. I would urge my friends, readers, and followers to take a chance and travel this side of Maharashtra. Get stunned by the clean beaches, good soulful food, pleasant weather, and warm locals. It definitely helps grow local businesses. This will add opportunities and employment to the youth in Sindhudurg. People near Sindhudurg Airport might increase homestays for a better, smoother stay. Rickshaws or private drivers will earn well too.
My Experience in Sindhudurg
If you ask me about certain things, I can guide you. The people in Sindhudurg lead a very simple life. In every village or household, you will see families earn little but eat good, healthy organic food or fresh seafood. Living close to the Arabian Sea, the food mainly depends on fish. This doesn’t mean you’ll have fewer vegetarian options. The base is usually coconut gravy, so you will get a variety of veg and non-veg options! The coconut gravy keeps it mild and subtle. Senior citizens, adults, and young kids often love it.
The weather is quite pleasant and less pollution. Please carry your bags and throw them in a dustbin. Don’t litter anywhere. We need to preserve our surroundings and keep them clean! The weather is mostly humid, so people from Mumbai easily adjust here, minus the traffic and unhealthy air quality. It is full of nature, natural voices, cool breezes, enough sunlight, heavy rains, etc. If you plan to visit in the summer season, carry sunglasses, sunscreen, and nice, comfortable, breathable clothes.
Some local attractions near Sindhudurg Airport include Bhogave, Nivati, Khavane Beaches, and Nivati Fort. There is even a Sangam Point where the Karli River meets the Arabian Sea. This ride usually runs from Tsunami Island at Devbag-Malvan to Bhogave-Vengurla. A scenic boat ride, lined with coconut and betel nut trees along the banks of the Karli River, will help you de-stress.
Sindhudurg Airport is located in Vengurla Taluka. Northside is Malvan and Devgad Taluka. All of these are famous for their beaches and shores. Cities near the airports are Kudal, Kankavali, and Sawantwadi. This makes Amboli nearby for travel. Goa is an hour away from Sindhudurg!

As of 2026, Sindhudurg Airport (Chipi Airport) averages about 3 passenger flights per day (roughly 21 flights per week). Fly91 handles all operations, connecting the coastal region to 3 domestic destinations: Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune. There are even updates on restarting the Mumbai flight soon.
