Pregnancy consists of three trimesters. The first, second, and third trimesters. The first trimester starts from week 1 to the end of week 12. It was my first time and so like every new mom, it was more of online research. For me, food was a priority. I always wanted to be with mom and eat food made by her. However, it was not possible due to the current situation. The condition was worse everywhere so keeping a house help wasn’t even an option. It was just both of us. I personally loved making these delicacies.

On Valentine’s Day – I made bread pakoda for us in the morning. To my surprise, he got my favorite shev puri with Dairy Milk Silk in the evening. On 17th February we found out that I’m pregnant ❀️I had no such thing as cravings. I ate what I felt since day one and I’m happy to do so. Had nothing specific but a weird food aversion. Didn’t like the aroma of frying coconut. While I was in Sindhudurg, the food was mostly more coconut gravy. For certain dishes, it’s just grated coconut but for a lot of other ones, it was frying and grinding up coconuts with onions. This continued for a few months.

I also remember 20th March we celebrated our first anniversary as a would-be mother and father. On 22nd March 2020, there were restrictions in India. The outbreak was very scary and disturbing. I tried to keep calm and focus on the upcoming days.

First Trimester

I absolutely enjoyed every single day and one fine day something strange occurred. Unknowingly ate three different dals for my meal. Afternoon Pigeon Peas (Toor Dal) Sambar, Spinach Chana (Bengal gram split and skinned) Dal Sabzi, Evening Urad (Black gram whole split and skinned) Dal Appam. This resulted in acute abdominal pain and diarrhea. It was very difficult and we had to rush to the doctor. Additionally, the first trimester was even more difficult and heavy. I had continuous sensitive and sore breasts. I could not wear a bralette. This made me really uncomfortable most of the time. My hospital visits were scary as I had to wear one despite all the sore feeling.

First Trimester
All made by yours truly! I cooked a lot of delicacies πŸ™‚ during my pregnancy journey.
Despite all these odds, I was happy with the development of the baby. It was like a miracle to see the little one grow inside through those scans and reports. How was your first trimester? Let me know them in the comments πŸ™‚
